Why do I keep forgetting words I have already learned?

Why do I keep forgetting words I have already learned? Why is it, that I know what they mean when I hear or see them written down, but I keep forgetting them when I want to use them?

If you have ever learned a language you have undoubtedly encountered this problem way more than once. It happens to every language learner, and we will experience this to a certain extent no matter what, but there are some exercises you can do, and habits that you can pick up to experience this less often.

One of the most common reasons you may forget words is that you learned them using an inefficient method.

How to learn new words so that you will actually remember them lists 4 methods that help to learn words efficiently.

The next important thing is to write all the new words in one place and to reread them frequently. Write down your new words in a vocabulary book and scan through a page every night before bed. Having all the recently learned words in one place and scanning through them often keeps them fresh in your memory.

SO FROM NOW ON, USE ONE OF THE 4 METHODS WHEN YOU LEARN A NEW WORD THEN USE THEM IMMEDIATELY EVERY CHANCE YOU GET, HAVE THE NEW WORDS WRITTEN DOWN IN ONE PLACE AND LOOK AT THEM REGULARLY

And now about the exercises I’ve promised

As you will see, there are two main types of exercises that help you with that. The first is to name things, the second is to create words using limited letters. Both are designed to help you activate those long-forgotten words.

Do two of them and tell me how it went. Don’t forget to record or write down your answers to get good feedback!
